If you have a kid and ask what kind of birthday party they want then chances are you have heard that they want a Fortnite party or a video game party over and over again. The days of just letting the kids run around in the backyard while taking an ice cream break every five minutes passing as a birthday party are long gone! That is why today we are looking at some of the ways that you can plan a video game party in Montreal.
Fortnite is taking over the world and there is not a kid who likes video games who does not play it. Chances are if your child wants a video game party, Fortnite needs to be part of it. The thing to know is that only one child can play per console so you will need to have multiple consoles and TVs. Planning a kids birthday party in Montreal is not that hard (and we can help) but you need to know that one console an done TV is not enough for a Fortnite party. One way around this could be to encourage each child to bring their own console and you can then rent some TVs for each of them to use.
Putting together a Fortnite Party would certainly make you a god amongst party organizers. Just make sure that you have everything planned out as perfectly as possible. Plus remember, each kid needs their own console and TV, this cannot be stressed enough. You cannot put out invitations for a Fortnite themed birthday party and then only have one Xbox for 10 kids to play.
Fighting Game Party!
As each child would need their own console and TV for a Fortnite party. Have a think about games that are easy to organize a tournament around. Fighting games are very easy to do this with. Games like Marvel vs Capcom, Injustice 2, Tekken 7, Street Fighter V and so on are not just games kids can have fun with. You can organize it so that two kids play at a time while the rest either watch and cheer them on or they can play other party games.
You can create a fun bracket and have a points system, fun prizes and so on. Fighting games are very easy to organize a party around.
If you are worried about the amount of space you need for a video game party and in particular if there are any birthday party venues in Montreal big enough for you. Racing games can be the way to go. Mario Kart is the most obvious way to have a video game party based around a racing game, but the two Sonic The Hedgehog racing games are also a lot of fun and popular with kids. One of the best things about racing games for a kids video game birthday party is that most of them are four player so this limits the number of kids that are waiting for their turn.
Mario Kart on the original Nintendo Wii is actually a very affordable way to have a video game themed party as the game is cheap, a Wii is cheap and each kid can have their own Wii Remote and steering wheel to use.
Video Game Party Games
Unless you are super rich or have access to many different game consoles and TV’s you are going to need to have some other fun games for the kids to do. The trick here is to have these be video game themed. Instead of pin the tail on the donkey you can have a video game themed version where they need to put the egg on Yoshi or blow up the Fortnite fort with a rocket and so on. Pass the parcel, but with a video game related prize is another great way to have video game fun, but not with a controller in their hands.
Just think of all the classic kids birthday party games and then put a video game spin on them. In many cases, it can be as easy as just changing the name of it. For example, Musical Chairs can become Mario Party Chair Challenge where it is the same game, but you play it with Super Mario music.
Things to Consider
Think About What They Are Eating
When you are organizing a kids Fortnite party or a video game party, in general, it can be so easy to just focus on the video games. What are they going to play? How many TV’s do you need? And things like this, but when it comes to video games you really want to watch what kind of food you are giving the kids. Pizza is a great food for a kids birthday party, but pizza and video game controllers do not mix! Chocolate and video game controllers do not mix!
You need to either have food that is not going to make the controllers all sticky and yucky. Or make sure that you have a ton of baby wipes on hand and that the kids know that they have to wipe down their hands after they eat. If you are renting the video game consoles or borrowing them from someone. You will certainly want to make sure that food and the video games are not mixing.
Have Set Rules
A video game party in Montreal should be the most fun thing in the world, however, there still has to be rules. You will have some kids who try to have “just one more go” or say that when they lost it was not fair so they are having another go and so on. Have clear and easy to understand rules and stick to them. This makes the kids know where they stand and ultimately it makes the day so much more fun for everyone else as there is no one trying to have an unfair amount of time playing a game.
Watch Those Invites
We are not talking about who your kid is inviting to play Fortnite with them on Xbox Live, but how many kids you are inviting to the party in general. While it could be great if their whole class can come. If you are worried about having enough consoles and TV’s for the kids, you might be better to have a smaller video game party. This way you can do it at home or with a smaller party venue here in Montreal.
You can always use your first video game birthday party as a bit of a test to see how it goes with say 6 to 10 kids and then you might be better prepared to have the whole class over the following year!
Talk To Someone Who Is A Gamer
If you are a gamer yourself then you will know what can make or break a video game party. You will know what consoles are best to use, what games are the most fun and accessible for all kids and in general what is practical. If you do not play video games but have a child who says that they want a Fortnite birthday party, you should ask someone who is a gamer what they think about it. What can and cannot be done, what games are best and so on.
